Here’s a list of the main topics to be looking for. Each of these should be a few sentences, not just a few words!
- What is the Salton Sea? Where is in?
- What was it like during the Salton Sea’s heyday? When was this?
- Look up “broken windows” theory. Describe it and how it applies to the Salton Sea’s situation.
- Why is the Salton Sea dying now?
- What will be the results of the Salton Sea dying? How will this impact the surrounding region?
- What is the state of California planning to do? Do you think this plan will actually happen? Why or why not?
- Make a timeline of the Salton Sea, starting in 1900. This requires jumping around the article a bit. Note, this lake started as a dry basin, rather than a lake!
