Feb.8-17: Plate Tectonics & Convection Cell

On Feb. 8 & 9: LO: analyze current science event

Warm-up:  Oceans cover how much of the planet?  And how much of the living space (for all living things) is in oceans?

Notebook return.  New semester page and #'s.
- Finish Eyewitness: Ocean.  Check answers & discuss.
- Current events:  Storyboard a marine science article of your choice from the six offered.  Due 10 &13.

Feb. 10 & 13: 

Warm-up: What is NOAA?  Guess: what are a couple things NOAA is in charge of.

1) Turn in storyboards & look over final exams. Please return the exams.
2) Five minute writing in notebook on left side:  "Letter to myself about prepping for final exam."
3) Discuss articles.

Feb. 14 & 17: LO: model convection cells.

Warm-up:  What evidence of plate tectonics do we see in the ocean?

New seating charts.
1) Plate tectonics of Iceland video... take notes in your notebook.
2) Lab: Convection cell in a bowl...
3) HW:  complete "after the lab" questions in your notebook.

Feb. 15 & 16:  OAKS testing, no class assignments


All juniors took OAKS science test.
